An elegant red-figure skyphos (wine cup) featuring two contrasting yet interconnected scenes. One side showcases a Centaur in dynamic motion, wielding a stone—a classic symbol of nature's untamed power. The opposing side depicts a Hoplite (ancient Greek warrior) in a defensive crouch, equipped with a shield, spear, and Corinthian-style helmet, representing the order and discipline of the city-state.
The vessel features the traditional asymmetrical handles (one horizontal, one vertical) and a lustrous black glaze that beautifully highlights the terracotta figures.
